about monica rodriguez

Monica Rodriguez earned her B.A. at the University of West Florida and M.A. in both Mental Health Counseling and School Psychology. Monica holds a Credential with the California Department of Education as a School Psychologist, and is an active member of the National Association of School Psychologists. Monica has over 15 years experience serving children as a School Psychologist within the public school system and completed over a thousand cases identifying and addressing learning and behavior problems in children and teens that interfered with school success, and conducted assessments and evaluated eligibility for special education services. Subsequent to that, Monica has worked since 2009 as a private Advocate and Educational Consultant specializing in assisting families with children with special needs and specific school difficulties. While continuing to use her education, experience and passion for remediating the challenges of our most fragile population of children, Monica has been able to give back to our San Diego County community by helping families.

"As a Special Education Advocate, my goal is to help parents advocate for appropriate education for their child, allowing each child to reach his or her full potential and transition into adulthood making meaningful contributions to society. Your child deserves to receive an appropriate education, services, accommodations, modifications and placement. This is not always the case, and that is the primary reason we have Special Education Laws: to protect our children when they are most vulnerable. It is my commitment to help parents navigate through the process of both special education and regular education when support is needed. As a experienced California Credentialed School Psychologist, I get to know your child and his school placement, offer assistance to parents as we communicate and meet with school staff as a united team, provide information regarding disabilities, remediation, best practices, education laws, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, filing Compliance Complaints, Due Process, Behavioral and Manifestation Determination Meetings and Expulsion Hearings. I team with parents to assist in garnering a free appropriate education for each child."
